We look forward to hearing many more albums in the future form this amazingly talented person. You go girl!
And please note- Cameron’s wearing a pearl necklace on the album cover. Do you think she knows what a “pearl necklace”means?

Every year in the spring, thousands of internet and filmmaking rock stars (and rock-star-rock-stars) gather in Austin, Texas for South by Southwest, the interactive, film, and music conference that originally began as a music festival in the late 80s. Today it’s a big deal, bringing the biggest names in the industry together with everyday people in a mixing of the minds, a delicious burrito full of culture and fun.
And we’re in the thick of it. My gal pal Trish Bendix and I are moderating “Engaging The Queer Community” an in-depth discussion with Bil Browning and Sinclair Sexsmith on how to make your blogs, twitters, podcasts and youtube videos fabulous.
We’re sifting through the issues of blogging from a queer identity or perspective. How do you get people interested and chatting you up without turning them into an angry mob? What about being in the closet as a blogger? How do you keep your site from being banned when you write about all that hot dirty sex you’ve been having?
How is new media changing how we push politicians and society forward towards embracing our rights?
As a way to say thanks to all the fabulous people who live in Texas, we’re throwing a party on Sunday, March 14 at 9pm at Oil Can Harry’s -the- oldest gay bar with the cutest guys and gals.
Come meet me (Fausto FernĂłs), Marc Felion, Trish Bendix (After Ellen), Sinclair Sexsmith (Sugarbutch Chronicles), Bil Browning (Bilerico Project) and dozens of other fab internet rock stars knocking down the drinks and having a great time.
Bring a camera and your iPhone, these things usually get wild.

FOF #1157 – Craig Seymour Bares it All – 03.11.10
Visiting a strip club when you first come out can be a very liberating as it validates your desire to look at other men.
For Craig Seymour, he was so fascinated by his experience at the strip club, he did his college thesis on the subject of stripping and interviewed many male dancers and their clients. He eventually became one himself. Listen as Craig talks about his tell all book: "All I Could Bare: My Life in the Strip Clubs of Gay Washington, D.C."
Visiting a strip club when you first come out can be a very liberating experience as it validates your desire to look at other men. For Craig Seymour, he was so fascinated by his experience at the strip club, he did his college thesis on the subject of stripping and interviewed many male dancers and their clients. He eventually felt that if he was really going to know what it’s like to be one of them he’ll have to take it all off and work the pole.
The seedy clubs where Craig worked were famous for full-on nude men and he would spend hours working the crowd in his birthday suit to get just the right angle for his thesis. Now that’s research!
Craig put it all in his book “All I Could Bare: My Life in the Strip Clubs of Gay Washington, D.C” and he’s here today to talk about his experiences as a stripper, a professor and journalist.
Listen as Craig chats with us about the escalating costs of higher education, the changing face of LGBT journalism and why digital media is making it harder for conservative closeted politicians to lead double lives.
Plus-
His relationship with the conservative blogger Matt Drudge and why Matt wears those awful hats.
And how Luther Vandross almost came out to Craig during an interview but never quite got there

Just a shade over a decade since his initial portrayal of the outrageously gay icon Jack McFarland on NBC’s “Will & Grace,” actor Sean Hayes has finally decided to come out of the closet about his homosexuality. In an interview with The Advocate, Sean expressed a lot of resentment toward the gay community for pressuring him to come out earlier in his career saying, “What more do you want me to do? Do you want me to stand on a float? And then what? It’s never enough.”
Look, I completely respect other people’s privacy, but once you’ve gotten the part and seven consecutive Emmy nominations and a win with your first nomination, you’re no longer auditioning. You’ve got the part. Time to be proud of who you are. And if you just so happen to be typecast… is that such an awful thing? Even if I were straight, I’d rather be the “go-to” person for playing gay than not have a fucking job… ya know, like 10% of America right now.
So the answer to the question of what more do I want, Sean, is that I want every gay kid growing up in the world right now to have a role-model to look up to. And what better role-model is there than a proud gay man playing a proud gay man on national television?

Last week I told you about the urgent action needed to stop a bill seeking to water down Illinois’ potent gender identity and sexual orientation inclusive employment non-discrimination law. Republican gubernatorial front-runner, Bill Brady, had quietly introduced a bill to expand “religious exemptions” so much that the law would be nearly nullified. Bill Brady had been vehemently against the law when it was initially introduced, back when he was in the lower house. Now a Senator and GOP Governor hopeful, Brady was seeking to use transgender, gay, lesbian and bisexual folks in Illinois to court favor in rural areas, and shore up his conservative base.
Brady is a right wing nut job. He needn’t worry about his conservative base. I don’t use nut job loosely. Brady is currently campaigning on–among other things–a strong “reform” platform–specifically touting campaign finance reform and term limits. One of the longest serving lawmakers in the Assembly, Brady voted against campaign finance reform bills numerous times, and also voted against a term limits bill. I’m confused…

To many, the Middle East is a tantalizing mix of danger and desire. To a gay travel writer it’s an adventure to a world where same-sex affection blurs in the sand.
Today, Michael Luongo joins us to talk about his book tour through the Middle East to promote “Gay Travels in the Muslim World” a collection of true stories of men sexually attracted to other men in places like Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan. It’s the first gay American book ever translated into Arabic and was the first gay themed book ever presented at an Arabic language book fair.
Listen as Michael shares with us his how his controversial book got translated into Arabic, the difficulty of being in one of the world’s largest book fairs and why it was so hard to do a reading in Israel.
Michael also shares with us some safety issues for Westerners when traveling to the Middle East, his experience meeting Queen Rania of Jordan and why some men fetishize Middle Easterners.
Plus a heart-wrenching letter from a Muslim listener who left an abusive environment in Tajikistan to live as an openly gay man in America.

Tim Miller’s “Lay of the Land”
March 15, 2010-March 21, 2010
“Tim MIller’s Lay of the Land” is Tim Miller’s saucy, sharp-knifed look at the State of the Queer Union during a time of trial! Careening from his sexy misadventures performing in 45 States, to Marriage Equality street protests, to the electoral assaults on queer people all over the country, to his life as a grade-school flag monitor, to choking on cheap meat caught in his 10 year old gay boy’s throat, LAY OF THE LAND friskily gets at that feeling of gay folks being perpetually on trial, on the ballot, and on the menu! “Tim MIller’s Lay of the Land” is a “lay” in all kinds of ways: a sex-assignation, a queer citizenship map, and of course a narrative ballad with a recurrent refrain! (Miller’s favorite way-down-the-list definition for “lay”!)

Autobiography, animal behavior, and bald-faced lies create this poetic meditation on midlife crisis in the key of canine. After years as a self described “professional homosexual,” our heroine gives up preaching to the perverted and pestering the religious right. She takes a real job at a prestigious university, acquires a small pack of dogs, and discovers that as we age, the thin membrane that divides the animal from the human dissolves entirely.

This is a link to This American Life and explains in 1973, the American Psychiatric Association (APA) declared that homosexuality was not a disease simply by changing the 81-word definition of sexual deviance in its own reference manual. It was a change that attracted a lot of attention at the time, but the story of what led up to that change is one that we hear today, from reporter Alix Spiegel. Part one of Alix’s story details the activities of a closeted group of gay psychiatrists within the APA who met in secret and called themselves the GAYPA … and another, even more secret group of gay psychiatrists among the political echelons of the APA. Alix’s own grandfather was among these psychiatrists, and the president-elect of the APA at the time of the change.

I have to hand it to whoever came up with this one, becasue kids it is fucking brilliant! Some enterprising and creative activists in Utah have turned the bright lights of poltical theater on how disturbing the the anti-Gay rhetoric has gotten in modern US poltics and where we just might be headed if we don’t nip this bigotry in the bud.
“Patriots for a Moral Utah” held themselves a little press conference that was actually attended by all the major media outlets in Slat Lake CIty where they unvelied their effort to introduce a refendum that would offer a kind of final solution to the problem of all those pesky homos making it real hard for god fearing Utahns to rais etheir kids in an atmosphere of hatred and intolerance. Make them move! And if they don’t, well they want to set up an office that would deal with those nasty “delinquent homosexuals” and give them the boot physically. Genius!
It was all an elaobrate hoax, but one that really shows where we’re headed if we keep indulging bigotry through legislation and public referendum in theis country.

Regardless of what you think of Avatar, you can’t deny that it’s one of the most financially successful films ever made. As of today Avatar has brought in $1.3 billion dollars in sales, beating out James Cameron’s earlier hit “Titanic” in sales.
So why didn’t it sweep the Oscars like Titanic? Is it because it made a lot of money, or are there other reasons, maybe like that it has a sloppy story line?
Check out Red Letter Media’s Avatar movie review. It’s not only really funny, but also does an excellent job at explaining why the film fails in storytelling and why it has more to do with James Cameron’s psyche than anything else.
Red Letter Media is a video production company from Milwaukee that puts out regular movie reviews on mostly sci-fi hits with a very biting commentary. I’m not sure what’s going on with the guy doing the voice over commentary, but he’s really brilliant.

Today our friend Curtis Jensen, a gay Roger Ebert- joins us to look at this year’s winners, all the hot gay moments, and celebrity train wrecks that made the Oscars into a roller coaster of crazy.
Women dominated this year’s ceremonies as they swept the awards for best director, best picture, best actress and best supporting actress!
Sandra Bullock won the best actress Oscar, the worst actress Razzie award, showed up in person to claim them both, and hit on Meryl Streep.
Katherine Bigelow served her ex-husband James Cameron a Hurt Locker as she won the awards that might have gone to his blue baby Avatar. Anyone notice how tight Barbara Streisand held on to the statue before handing it over to Katherine? Jealous Babs?
What famous Hollywood hunks made the audience gasp with their bromantic hugs and kisses? Was Farrah Fawcett overlooked in the Hollywood’s tribute to the dead. And is Oprah going gay for Gabourey!
